REQUEST ANALYTICAL SERVICES
Analytical services or price quotes can be requested by phone, fax or email. A form titled "Request for Price Quotation" can be completed and forwarded by fax or email or simply used as a guide. The following issues should be taken into consideration as you plan your project.
Quality control and reporting requirements:Additional issues to consider would include special QC or reporting requirements that you may have. Please refer to the Request for Price Quotation form and to Reporting Options for more details. NCL is also capable of providing a variety of electronic reporting requirements for various state regulatory agencies.
Scheduling:You will need to consider time demands for preparing for your sampling events. Once arrangements are made for your project, a bottle order will be prepared for your sample collection needs. Ample time must be provided for preparing the sample containers and shipping them to your site. If you are submitting bioassay samples, sufficient notice must be provided so that ample stock will be on hand.
NCL works with all commercial carriers so we are able to ship with and receive from the carrier that best meets your needs. It is important that shipping arrangements are made so that we receive your samples within the holding times of requested analyses. If your sampling schedule requires delivery of samples outside of NCL's regular business hours, special arrangements must be made for staff to be available for sample acceptance.
Turn around times (TATs):The time demands for your project are a major consideration. NCL has a standard TAT of two weeks (10 working days) for most analyses. Shorter TAT's must be approved prior to receipt of samples and a surcharge will be assessed dependent on the nature of the project. The following schedule reflects rush surcharges for most routine analyses:
| 24 Hours | 100% | | 48 Hours | 80% | | 3 Days | 70% | | 4 Days | 60% | | 5 Days | 50% | | 6 Days | 40% | | 7 Days | 30% | | 8 Days | 20% | | 9 Days | 10% |
Sample handling:Some of your samples may have processing or handling needs that client services should be made aware of. Samples may have known contamination or toxicity that could affect how NCL staff handles the samples or may require special compositing or sieving processing. Client services would also need to be aware of soils coming in from out of the state or country; NCL has current permits from both the United States Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Food and Agriculture so that we can import soils.
Subcontracting:Some projects may involve analyses outside of our capabilities. NCL subcontracts with a number of other certified laboratories allowing you to ship all of your samples to NCL then subcontracted work will be forwarded to other laboratories as necessary.
Final reports:Once analyses are completed, reports are generated for review and signing. Final reports are mailed to the individual(s) at the address(es) indicated on your Chain of Custody. Results will also be faxed or emailed (PDF) if requested.
Payment:Payment arrangements must also be considered before beginning your project with NCL. If you would like to establish a credit account our application must be completed and approved prior to acceptance of your samples. Clients without an established credit account may submit payment by cash, check, MasterCard, or Visa with their samples.
Ordering sample containers:After taking the above issues into consideration, contact client services to discuss the full scope of your project. A quote for your project can be provided once the details are addressed and/or a bottle order will be prepared for delivery as agreed upon.
Included with your bottle order will be a Chain of Custody for providing NCL with specific information about your project. In addition to information about the project and samples, the form provides space for you to reference any special requirements needed.
The Chain of Custody should accompany the samples being shipped for analyses. Be sure to pack the samples in a cooler with sufficient ice to maintain 40C temperature and adequate packing material to protect the samples from breakage. Please notify NCL as to when your samples will arrive. Advanced notice will enable the laboratory to schedule your samples for analysis. In addition, if samples are expected and do not arrive on time the laboratory will be able to notify you immediately.
Our Client Services Team includes Laura Miller and Trudie Haughy (Client Services Representatives), Ron Canady (Sample Custodian) and Elizabeth Mondragon (Laboratory Manager).
